Are you spending lots of time writing articles but get little in the way of results? This is quite common as people begin to market articles for the first time. The key to getting page views with your articles lies in the title. The title represents the advertising copy for your article, and, for the most part, it is the only advertising that your article will get. So, if you are not getting a substantial number of page views, maybe your titles need work.

A great article can generate thousands of page views in a relatively short time from a single article directory. This is the goal you should shoot for. Many people mistakenly believe that article marketing success is achieved through the number of directories you submit to. They think that the more directories you submit your articles to, the more traffic you will generate. This is not true. Article marketing success is measured by the number of page views your article generates.

The single most important part of your article is the title. Most people spend a half hour or more writing the body of the article and then, in a hurry to get done, they take just a minute or two and slap a poorly thought out title on it and begin submitting it.

This is just the opposite of what should be done. A much better strategy for article marketing success is to spend twenty minutes writing the article and spend half an hour on coming up with a great title.

When creating a title, consider the subject of your article and the audience that it will attract. Then ask yourself, ‘What is the number one factor that people interested in your subject want to achieve?’ Then slant your title in that area to play on your audience’s number one goal in that area.

Many people develop a title and then write the article. I prefer to write the article first and then come up with a great title. Using this method, I sometimes have to re-write portions of the article to represent what I have promised in the title/ But the re-write is almost always worth the extra effort. Your title must reflect what is discussed in your article, otherwise you will alienate readers.

To generate thousands of page views with your articles, spend some time on the title. It is well worth the extra time and effort.

Every self-respecting Internet marketer or business owner needs article marketing to further boost their sales. Article marketing has a single purpose and that is to generate enough targeted traffic to your business website. High volume traffic to your site will open opportunities to sell your products, offer affiliate programs, recruit down lines if you’re into multi level marketing, or just to capture email addresses for future advertising campaigns. Here are 5 practical tips to guide you in marketing articles:
1.  In article marketing, your articles should match your business. If you’re selling software or computer peripherals, your article topics should be about computers. You can write reviews, tips, current price comparisons, product evaluations, a buying guide, or any other topic angles that can be used by many people.

2.  You must also have a website where more of your articles can be found. It should be linked to your business web site. The best thing to do is to convert your article site into a landing page designed to capture email address and generate subscription and membership to your service or programs. These people are your immediate circle of clients. You can send regular newsletters to them or occasional special offer emails that will enjoin them to patronize your products and services.

3.  Maximize the use of free article directories and invest also in paid submissions to distribution sites. Your linked articles can be posted to numerous sites throughout the web and you can expect to have web traffic to come to your site.

4.  Regularly write and contribute articles to online news organizations that accept articles. These media outfits have regular readers and they can surely read your articles. They could also be your targeted market.

5.  Don’t discount the use of social networking sites to your article marketing. You must join numerous bulletin boards within these sites and contribute your thoughts there. Promote your site and your products and offer free articles which can be reprinted in their own sites.
